Today July 27 is "The mass of HECUBA" function in the AAA Jiron Ica 323 Lima Cercado last.. . next to the Teatro Municipal de Lima... at 8 in the evening.

i attended this performance on my birthday several years ago, and left this short review on senor guillen;s facebook page. he answered me and invited me to his next play, after which we became friends. he is getting up in years and im very happy he has survived the pandemic and iremains in good health. a few years ago the corrupt mayor of lima named him as the country'a greatest actor and he refused the honor because the mayor was a hypocrite who did not support the arts. thiis piece of music expressses the way i feel about this exceptional person and brilliant artist.

This could be the most memorable cultural event you will experience in Lima. For many years, actor Edgard Guillen was the premier national actor of Peru. Then he reached the point where he needed to break away from the glitz and compromise of show business to follow his own muse by performing free solo interpretations of the great characters of world literature in his own home. Although he has continued to tour the world with his one man shows, "Hecuba" marks his return to public performance in Lima. In 20 years as a professional theatre critic in Boston and Seattle, I have never seen an actor who goes as deep into the meaning of what it means to be human as Guillen. it doesnt matter how good or bad your spanish is. This actor speaks with every part of his body and soul in languages you never knew existed. After witnessing his transcendent transformation into Hecuba, you will know the depths of sorrow suffered by the women who have lost children to war. tonight is your final opportunity to experience the art of one of the world's greatest actors..for the ridiculously low price of 25 soles.
