i believe there is so much hatred, hypocrisy, and anxiety about religion in america because it has never been a religious country (excepting perhaps the infernal mormons) i know so many athiests who share a history of repression, oppression, and outright cruelty from the hands of the catholic church so their aversity to it and related cults is quite understandable. but the crux of the matter is that north america was a holy land to the native americans but never to the white settlers. and much as the polititians and popular entertainers profess their love and thanks to god, their corrupt ways are in express denial of such a god, the truth is, the white north americans never had a god and their land is not holy
