lyrics

I was heading for St Louis,
for no special reason, crossing Tennessee,
beyond the river, there it was, Missouri,

I was lost, tired of hopin`
all would be gone in my life what makes me hurt…
, all the roads were open,
don´t know why I opted for the worst…

Guess I could`ve done better,
the devil always gets his share…
and I shot a guy in Dexter…
you know… just ´cause he was there…

(Chorus)
And now I am running,
always on the run…
a man is never more than the things he has done…
I`m free and yet not free…
no im not free
From Bismarck to Louisiana,
Spokane to Miami,
My prison is from L.A. to Tennessee…

No, I did not need his money,
or car… I didn´t need anything he owned…
but I shot a guy in Dexter
as if I could shoot away my pain…

(Chorus)
And now I am running,
always on the run…
a man is never more than the things he has done…
I`m free I`m free I`m free
I tell myself ...but Im not free…
from Bismarck to Louisiana,
Spokane to Miami,
my prison`s is from L.A. to Tennessee…

I reckon the prosecutor
will not understand and neither will he care,
I have never been a shooter,
but I had to bear way more than a man can bear…

I guess I could`ve done better,
had options from which I could choose,
and shooting a guy in Dexter
was not the best thing to do

(Chorus)
And now I am running,
always on the run…
a man is never more than the things he has done…
I`m free I`m free I`m free
I tell myself ...but Im not truly free…
from Bismarck to Louisiana,
Spokane to Miami,
my prison`s is from L.A. to Tennessee
