about

i didnt set out to write a christmas song. i wanted to make something meaningful out of a stupid title, something you coudnt get out of your head, like they did in the fifties and early sixties. like mr sandman for instance. but when i received the following comment on my song, i realized i might have something else.

"I hate to be stereotypical but this is totally a Christmas song. First off, think of a movie like Jack Frost. Remember the really big sad part in that movie? Imagine if this song had been playing in the movie at that part. Oh it would have ripped your heart out. You've invented a slightly more downtempo, slightly sadder, slightly i inspirational version of a Christmas song.I wasn't prepared for this. None of us could have been. This is on a whole 'nother level of existence. I bow down to you, for you are a true visionary and a musical fucking genuis."

Others who listened agreed

"Beautifully stately, with a definite feel of a holiday classic; this would go splendidly as a (somewhat reflective) stop-motion animated Christmas TV special (not really for the kids, but for those of us who have lived life a bit). A bit melancholic and sad, but still hopeful somehow, I quite like the emotion in your voice and the delicate, deliberate guitar, which seems to pack a lot of feeling into a small number of very precisely chosen notes. Quite lovely!|

And sp the idea for making a christmas Album was planted.

lyrics

Hey There Mr. Snowflake
Are you a tear fallen out of a cloud?
Hey There Mr. Snowflake
You freeze as you fall to the ground
What frightened you so in the heavens
That caused you to fall through the gates?
Hey There Mr. Snowflake
I watch you fall as I stand here and wait

Hey There Mr. Snowflake
My tears are frozen on my face
Hey There Mr. Snowflake
May I follow you to a better place?
The crystals have fallen from your teardrops
Now you are a piece of the snow
Hey There Mr. Snowflake
You are here. Tell me where can I go?
