never liked that song when it was on the radio
but i miss the days when that sound was in the air
you were on the stage and i was writng movies
there was no denying we were quite a pair
sometimes still ill buy a ticket for that train
going out of town on the hudson line
our old house in westchester is now completely empty
but i like to pass it by from time to time
we havent spoken in such a long time
i suppose it is better that way somehow
we have nothing left to say to each other
considering the way we are now
once again, it is the end of september
when the sun goes down, i feel the chilly breeze
the streets are alive with returning students
leaves are falling from the trees
you used to love that song when it was on the radio
when i heat it now i always think of you
and of those long lost days when we were so optimistic
about who we were and what we were going to do
