This song is both a tribute to and appreciation of all the fawmers and 50 90ers around the world. Every century brings cataclysmic changes to what it means to be human. The people of the 21st century are not the same as those of the 20th. Many of us now are caught between these two worlds and the unbelieveable outpouring of creativity in these days strikes me as the final breaths of the old order, and in the near to distant future, these songs we, and others around the world, are writing may tell people where humanity was at in the 20th century, before the changes that restructured them were complete. Sometimes we may ask why we are putting so much time and energy into these songs that seem orphaned in these times of transition. Perhaps the reason is that we are speaking to the as yet unborn, making a case for ourselves in a world that does not know us.
lyrics
hey are everywhere
they are flesh and bone
some are obscure
some are well known
they are writing songs
they are far and near
and they just might be
the last voices you hear
voices of struggle
voices of unrest
the warnings of a rebel
or by love possessed
voices of children
losing their way
from the darkest night
into the bristling day
voices from sweden
voices from spain
hunters from the rhineland
suicides from the seine
in lonely desperation
or social harmony
voices of the chain gangs
longing to be free
they are everywhere
they are just like you
they see what they see
they do what they do
they are the last
of a dying breed
the last conscious breath
of humanity
voices of war
voices of peace
some from the west
some from the east
voices of love
vpoces of hate
listen to them
before its too late
from the stages of man
to the age of robotics
when science turned left
to the land of psychotics
somewhere in the caverrns
where lost memories are hung
someone might discover
the songs that we sung
we are everywhere
we are flesh and bone
some are obscure
some are well known
we are writing songs
we are far and near
and we just might be
the last voices you hear
