This state of non-combat lasts for several months. Most of the Brazilians oldiers either die from starvation or are executed for having civilian attitudes. When the remaining survivors enter a deserted city and plant their flag there, Victory!
lyrics
They fought a war
For a piece of land
Nobody wanted
They marched
Through arid deserts
In military formation
There was no enemy in sight
And they hadnt fired a bullet in months
But they marched and stood guard
They were starving
on half rations
although the feed bags were full
when the pack mule died
They fed on its guts
while the officers ate its meat
a soldier was apprehended
when he left camp in the middle of the night
to take a piss
in the morning
he was shot
for desertion
another soldier was executed
for haiving civilian attitutdes
when he complained
"we are lost
in this country
far from our homes"
one by one
the soldiers were executed
for expressing civilian attitudes
and the officers
continued their war
against an enemy that was never seen
after several years, they came out of the desert
and declared the war over, planting their flag
in the center of an abandoned city
a city without water
where they died
like flies on a screen door
