for centuries
we have wondered what we are
whether we came from the mud of stink
or the blood of the gods
created and imprinted with the dna of immortality?
or just monkeys who learned to use fire and artillary?
theories and beliefs change with each age
until now, when we are too confused
to entertain either theory or belief.,
food of the gods or meat for the beasts?
with all of human knowledge at our fingertips
we are more ignorant than stone age man
looking for wisdom in the shell of a crab
politics is a material manifestation of religion
we choose our gods and the manner in which
we worship them and they rule us
we choose our own kings
and they determine our laws and morality
and we pretend to be a part of it
but we are no more a part of it
than we are a part of the cosmic order
are we become stupider by the day
in a world war there are muultiple winners
each country on the winning side
can exagerrate their part in the victory
but even after the last surrender
victory is never certain or final
because once the fuse is lit
a war can never end
when yesteday is always better than today
you have a span of years to live
and can never understand the world
if you only live within that span
already there are too few
who know anything about world war two
but the accounts are there to read
for anyone with a heart that bleeds
for people and things out of their range
who understands there is no change
just a circle circling a square terrain
and inside the cities on the plain the truth is slain
there are things people wont discuss
even though they are the ones who brought them up
only long enough to establish their views
and they cut off all who disagree
truth is, nobody knows anything
lies we have been told since birth
and as time goes by, it just gets worse
sometimes i wonder
if consiousness is real
or just a delusion
the brain has manufactured
to protect us
from knowing what we really are
the bells of hell are ringing
in the face of all this sadness
how can i keep on singing?
